Caged inside these four walls of my mind

My eyes burn, weary from the tears I’ve shed

My heart heavy, with burdens unsaid.

I seek respite that isn’t even there

Why does it seem like you don’t care?

Or have you set yourself free?

Do you languish in your solitude,

Or is it just me?

I want to knock,

Would you let me in?

Let me see how you feel within?

Let me help you,

Let me stay.

But why are you so far away?

In your shadows I wither to nothing

I long for your touch

I yearn for your loving.

Will you turn around and give me your hand,

Pull me out of this bottomless quicksand?

I would move mountains to share your thoughts

And cross oceans to be near you.

But if what you need is time,

Then I’ll be here, I’ll wait for you.
